Taylor Russell McKenzie was born on July 18, 1994 in Vancouver, British Columbia, and was raised in Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal. [1][22 Russell was born to the black father and white mother, is biracial, and grew up with her mother's side of the family. Russell recalled how as a child she was not accepted by her peers due to the colour of her skin. They struggled financiallyand were always on the move, uprooting their lives 16 times to pursue her father's profession. Russell revealed that despite all the hardships, Russell said that she was always interested in creativity from the age of a child. She hoped to be ballet dancer, then to become an artist. When she turned 18, she took her first acting class, and finally found her way to. She took money from her job to buy an automobile and travel to Los Angeles to audition. She would return to work once her savings ran out and then resume making auditions again. It went on for four years until she finally landed her first major television role.
