Dua Lipa (born in London) is an English musician and singer who was born on 22 August 1995 within London United Kingdom. In 2014, after working as a model and actress, she signed with Warner Bros Records. She dropped her self-titled debut album in 2017. This album reached number 3 on the U.K. Charts, and also released eight singles. They included Be the One I.D.G.A.F, the U.K. No. 1 track New Rules as well as the U.K. No. One single New Rules. Lipa has been awarded Brit Awards 2018 in category of British Female Artist, British Breakthrough Act. Additionally, the platinum album has been praised throughout the world. She was born to Kosovo Albanian parents Anesa Rexha and Dukagjin Lipa. As a result of her maternal grandparents Dua Lipa, she is Bosnian. It is also possible to trace her family tree back to Peja within Kosovo. Lipa's grand-fathers were both history professors. She is the sister of Rina Lipa, and has an older brother called Gjin. Lipa's musical influences came from her father, who is the lead singer and guitarist of the Kosovan The rock band Oda. His father would play music at home, and included songs from David Bowie Bob Dylan Radiohead The Police Stereophonics. Lipa began singing when she was just 5 years old. It was the Sylvia Young Theater School was where she started singing at the age of nine. Lipa sang If I'm Not I Gotta You By Alicia Keys and Beautiful by Christina Aguilera for YouTube. Lipa was given a recording contract by Warner Bros. Records in 2014. Her debut song New Love was released on August 15, 2015.
